2018 Camps

Intermediate Camp: 9-12 July 2018

Senior Camp:  16 – 20 July 2018

Forms - Organisation is underway for this year’s Swimming Taranaki Swim Camps.  Along with this newsletter is an Application Form which needs to be completed and returned to me by the 5th June.   Once I have received the application forms I will forward them on to our team of selectors who will then put everyone into the two camps.  As a guide, the Senior Camp will be for swimmers that qualified for NZ Age Group Champs and if room allows the top swimmers from DIV II.  Intermediate Camp is for Competitive Swimmers that are not quite at that level yet and are over 10 years of age.  The Junior Camp will be held in October and will be followed by a Swim Meet to allow swimmer’s to gain times to enable them to compete at the Taranaki 12 & Under Championships meet 30th November – 1 December.  Applications for this will be sent out in August.

Cost - Invoices will be sent to clubs for a deposit prior to camp, the balance will be invoiced after camp has finished and final costs are known.  We have applied for funding so it is our hope that we will be able to reduce the total cost.

Parent Help - Swimmers will stay overnight at the St. Mary’s Hostel.  We will require parent helpers to attend the camps to provide the swimmers and coaches with meals and overnight supervision.  A request for your availability to help will be sent out with consent forms once camp groups are selected.  This can be a very rewarding experience for parents as well as swimmers, and more hands on board make it lighter work for the team.

Camp Manager - Each camp must also have a Camp Manager to oversee the whole camp, it is a very rewarding role and one that we must fill before any camps can go ahead.  Please contact me if you are interested in putting your hand up for this.  This role may be shared if necessary.

Sessions – SeniorCamp runs for five nights and Intermediate Camp for three nights.

Swimmers need to complete and return their application forms to me by 5th June 2018.

We will endeavor to confirm which camp you have been selected for by 11th June, if anyone does not agree with their selection they will need to contact the Convenor of Selectors -Sue Southgate.
