The Junior & Intermediate Swimming Taranaki Camp was held on 24th - 26th January at Methanex Bell Block Pool with accommodation at Sacred Heart Girls College Elizabeth House Hostel.
It was thanks to The Toi Foundation that we were able to secure accommodation so that swimmers from all around the region could join this camp as there were both early morning and afternoon pool sessions.
Those attending not only did pool training but had stretching and strength exercises sessions, talks on nutrition, goal setting and how to approach race day. There were also afternoon actitivies which included tabloid sports with tug-of-war being won spectactularly by the girls!
The swimmers were split into teams with a competition being run throughout the weekend for points. These teams also were rostered onto dish washing duties and there were spot prizes for swimmers going that extra mile working hard in the pool as well as helping out.
A huge thank you to Maree Venables, Paul Rust, Chris Warmenhove, Kate Machen and Danelle Rust who made this camp as great as it was and also kept everyones energy levels up with great food!
